What is Sankalpa?

What are the different types of Sankalpa?

Sankalpa is the Sanskrit word for intention. In Hinduism, sanskrit literature, and yoga philosophy, sankalpa is the mental preparation for any action. Sankalpa is the first step towards achieving any goal.

There are two types of sankalpas. One is positive sankalpa and the second is negative sankalpa. A positive sankalpa is what we want to achieve and a negative sankalpa is what do not want to achieve.

Positive sankalpa is what helps us to get our desired results. Positive sankalpa means to have faith in ourselves and believe in our abilities. We should always think positively and never give up on our goals.

Negative sankalpa is what keeps us away from getting what we desire. Negative sankalpa is what prevents us from doing something. It is the opposite of positive sankalpa.

How do we make Sankalpa?

In order to make sanskalpa, you need to first identify what you really want. If you don’t know what you want, then you won’t know how to get it. So, start by asking yourself some questions. What would make me happy? What do I want out of my life? What am I passionate about? Once you’ve identified these things, write them down. Then, ask yourself if you’re willing to put in the work to achieve those things. Are you willing to make sacrifices? Do you have the discipline to stick to your plan? Are you ready to commit to making changes?

If you answered yes to these questions, then you’re ready to make sanskalp! Now, go ahead and write down your intentions. Make sure they’re specific and measurable. Don’t just say, “I’m going to lose weight.” Instead, say, “By the end of the month, I will weigh less than 120 pounds.” Or, “I will eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.” These are concrete actions you can take towards your goal.

Once you’ve written down your intentions, go back over them. Ask yourself if you still feel committed to them. If not, then re-evaluate your priorities. Maybe you should focus on having fun instead of working hard. Or maybe you should spend more time with friends instead of studying. Whatever it is, make sure you’re doing what makes you happy.

When you’re feeling good about yourself and your decisions, you’ll be able to make stronger sanskalpas. And, that’s exactly what you want.

When we have a plan in place, we must then commit to its execution. Do we really mean what we say? Are we committed to doing whatever it takes to achieve our goals? Once we have created a plan, we must then put it into practice. We cannot just talk about having a dream; we must actually work towards making it happen.
